It's been almost a year since the DreamPointe became available in Europe, and now it's OFFICIALLY available in the US!! Grishko DreamPointes are listed on discountdance.com (find them here) and in the Discount Dance catalogue. They are shown under the name "Dream" pointe shoe, and they are featured as part of a new line from Nikolai Grishko called 1737. There are two other new Grishko models debuted in this collection, the Katya and the Legend. The DreamPointes are listed for $78.00, which is comparable to their price on grishkoshop.com.
I'm so glad the DreamPointes are finally widely available in the US! Many dancers will now have an opportunity to try them out. I am not sure why they are debuting as part of a new line (they are just Grishko shoes, after all). I have also not seen or tried the Katya or the Legend. From the images on Discount Dance, the Katya looks a bit like a Russian Pointe Almaz, and the Legend looks a bit like a Freed Studio II. Perhaps Mr. Grishko is also trying to meld together the best aspects of American and Russian pointe shoe features (Bloch and Capezio are also trying to do the same thing).
